LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - Jake Gaal scored the lone goal for Westminster men's lacrosse, the first in his career.

The Blue Jays lost 23-1 and begin the season 0-3. 

Gaal's goal was assisted by Grant Peterson. 

"We came into the game with a positive feeling that we would be able to make things happen," said Westminster Head Coach Scott Fields. "Things were looking good when we were trailing 3-1 early in the game, but it was short-lived. A couple defensive breakdowns and failed clears made it an uphill battle." 

Tirso Aquino played in goal for Westminster, making 22 saves. 

"As we go into Saturday's game against Ottowa, we look to continue our growth and will battle until the end," said Fields. 

Westminster travels to Ottawa Saturday for an 11 a.m. game.
