Women's Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season at CMU Open

The Westminster women's track and field team opened the 2016 outdoor season at the CMU Open hosted by Central Methodist University. The Westminster Blue Jays placed ninth out of 11 with 10 points.

Freshman Jessie Kuykendall scored six of the Blue Jay's 10 points with her two top seven finishes. She placed fifth in the 1500-meter run, earning four points for the team with her 5:20.75 time. She earned her remaining two points in the 3000-meter run. She placed seventh with a time of 11:31.20.

Sophomore Taylor Howard earned the other four points with her sixth and eighth place finishes. She earned three points with her sixth place finish in the pole vault with a 2.40-meter jump. She earned the other point in the 400-meter hurdles. She placed eighth with a 1:14.78 time. Howard also competed in the triple jump and placed 11th (9.10m).

Freshman Katie Herzing was the final competitor for the Blue Jays. She placed 15th (1:16.67) in the 400-meter dash. 

The Blue Jays compete in their second outdoor meet of the season on Thursday, March 24, at the Wildcat Open hosted by Culver-Stockton.
