Kuykendall Places First at Central Methodist Invite

Westminster's freshman Jessie Kuykendall placed first in the 5000-meter run, helping the Blue Jays to a ninth place finish at the Central Methodist Invite on Saturday, April 9. The team combined for 16 points with four top 10 finishes. 

Kuykendall crossed the finish line for the 5000-meter run in 19:33.76, earning the team 10 points. 

Sophomore Taylor Howard competed in four events and placed in the top 10 in three, combining for the remaining six points. She earned the team five points after tying for fourth place in the pole vault with a 2.40-meter jump. She placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:15.32, earning one point. She placed ninth in the triple jump with an 8.87-meter jump and 12th in the 400-meter dash with a 1:03.58 race time.

Freshman Katie Herzing also competed in the 400-meter dash, placing 19th (1:16.48). 

Sophomore Talaysha Ruff rounded out the Blue Jay team with a 13th place, 8.43-meter throw in the shot put. 

The Blue Jays next compete in the Darrel Gourley Open hosted by William Jewell College on Saturday, April 16.
