Women's Track & Field Take One First Place, Three Second Place Finishes at SLIAC Invitational

The Westminster women's track and field team closed out the 2016 season with a 36 point, fifth place finish in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Invitational. The Blue Jays posted one first place finish and three second place finishes. 

Freshman Jessie Kuykendall placed first out of three in the 10000-meter run, finishing over two minutes faster than the other two opponents with a time of 40:08.00. The first place finish earned the team 10 points. 

Sophomore Taylor Howard combined for 26 of the team's points with three second place finishes and two six place finishes throughout her six events. She took second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:14.50), the pole vault (2.59-meters) and the triple jump (9.93-meters). She placed sixth in the long jump with a 4.21-meter jump and in the 400-meter dash with a 1:04.99 race time, earning her final two points. She also competed in the javelin throw and placed 10th with a 21.44-meter throw.

Sophomore Talaysha Ruff placed eighth in the javelin throw with a 23.12-meter throw, and freshman Katie Herzing placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a 1:13.30 finish time.
