Blue Jays Begin Outdoor Season

Fayette, Mo 3/19/2022- The Westminster Women's track and field team traveled to Fayette, Missouri to compete in their first outdoor track meet of the season in the Central Methodist University Open. The Blue Jays competed against twelve of the best NCAA and NAIA schools in the state of Missouri.

Celena Weber (Desloge, Mo. / North County R1) and Emily Nelson (St. Louis, Mo. / Timberland) started the day for the Blue Jays in the discus event. Weber placed nineteenth overall with a throw of 20.64 meters and Nelson placed twentieth with a throw of 18.67 meters.

The two of them would move to shot put. Weber would finish twentieth with a throw of 8.18 meters and Nelson would place twenty-second with a throw of 6.67 meters. That would wrap the field portion of events for the Blue Jays.

Kelsie Speichinger (Mendon, Mo / Northwestern) kicked things off on the track with the 100-meter dash. She would finish nineteenth with a time of 14.41. She would also compete in the 200-meter dash and placed thirtieth overall with a time of 30.63.

The Blue Jays will be back in action on April 1st and 2nd when they head back to Central Methodist to compete in the CMU Invite.
