Baseball Completes Series Sweep with 10-0 Game Three Win

Westminster baseball completed the three-game series sweep of Robert Morris University-Peoria on Sunday with a 10-0 short-gamed win. The eight inning win brings the Westminster Blue Jays to 9-5 on the season.

In the bottom of the third, freshman Ryan Klimkiewicz led-off the inning with a single to right field. Junior Nolan Bax was walked, and sophomore Adam Mundle hit a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third. Senior Deion Hughes hit a RBI single to short stop to score the first run of the game, and junior Connor Hager then singled to third base, bringing in Bax. A batter later, junior Nick Cessna hit a RBI single to left center to bring in Hughes and put the Blue Jays up 3-0.

Senior Tyler Branneky hit a RBI double in the fifth inning to bring in Hughes, putting the Blue Jays up 4-0.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Blue Jays added five more runs to the board. Bax hit a RBI ground out to score sophomore Blake Strebler. Two batters later, Hager singled to shortstop and Mundle scored. Ty. Branneky was then walked, loading the bases as Cessna came up to bat. Cessna hit a three RBI double to left center, bringing the Blue Jay's lead to 9-0. 

In the bottom of the eighth, freshman Matt Brown scored on a wild pitch. The run put the Blue Jays up by ten, ending the game with a 10-0 shutout win. 

The Blue Jays outhit the Robert Morris Eagles 12-4 with four batters recording two hits. 

Freshman Alex Dickneite (1-0) recorded the win. He pitched five innings, faced 21 batters and struck out six. 

The Blue Jays will not see the field again until they are in Tucson, Arizona on their spring break trip. They open the Tucson Invitational on Saturday, March 26, with a single game versus Bethel College (Minn.) at 10:00 am MST.
