Westminster's Armontrout and Cessna Bring Home SLIAC Player of the Week Honors

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced the Players of the Week for February 22, and Westminster College had two names on the list. Senior women's basketball player Krista Armontrout earned the final basketball SLIAC Player of the Week award and junior baseball player Nick Cessna earned the first SLIAC/Diamond Sports Hitter of the Week award.

Armontrout, a senior forward from Rolla, Mo., put up back-to-back 20 point games last week in leading her team to a pair of conference wins and extending her team's winning streak to 14 games. Armontrout tallied 23 points and nine rebounds in a win over MacMurray and followed with 20 points against Principia. She averaged 21.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last week while shooting 54.8 percent from the floor. In addition, she added six assists over the two games.

Cessna, a junior from O'Fallon, Mo., started the year with three multi-hit games during his team's opening series. Cessna hit .538 on the week with seven hits in three games including two home runs and four runs batted in. Cessna started the season by going 3-for-3 with a double and run batted in in his team's win over Ozarks. He followed with back to back 2-for-5 games, hitting a home run in each contest. On the week Cessna finished with a .571 on-base percentage and a 1.077 slugging percentage. He added one stolen base and scored five runs in the three games.

The women's basketball team enters the SLIAC Tournament as the number one seed. The tournament starts on Friday, February 26, at home.

The baseball team hosts Augsburg for their second three-game series and their first home game of the season on Saturday, February 27.
