The Westminster baseball team dropped the final game of the three-game division series with Webster in seven innings, 14-2. The Westminster Blue Jays went 1-2 with the Webster Gorloks, bringing their division record to 3-3. They remain in second in the West division with a 6-4 conference record and are 15-10 overall.
The Gorloks put up five runs in the first two innings and two more over the next two innings to take a 7-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth, sophomore Nick Bohlmann led-off with a home run over the right field fence. Later in the inning, sophomore Blake Strebler was brought home on a balk to bring the game to 7-2, Webster.
The Gorloks scored one run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly and six runs in the seventh to take a 14-2 lead.
Bases were loaded in the bottom of the seventh with two outs, but a fly out to left field ended the game early with a final score of 14-2.
The Blue Jays recorded five hits. Pinch hitter freshman Ryan Klimkiewicz went 1-for-1 from the plate. Bohlmann, Strebler, and junior Connor Hager each went 1-for-3. Senior Deion Hughes recorded the fifth hit.
Freshman Alex Dickneite (2-1) was credited with the loss on the mound.
The Blue Jays travel to Eureka College for a three-game division series starting on Saturday, April 16. They have a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm on Saturday, with a single nine-inning game starting at 1:00 pm on Sunday.
