Westminster Lacrosse Tallies Six Goals Against Monmouth

GALESBURG, Ill. - Westminster lacrosse tallied its highest goal total thus far in its short history with six in the team's 16-6 loss to Monmouth.

The Blue Jays fall to 0-3 with the loss.

"Our defense is continuing to look better and getting stronger as a unit," said Westminster Head Coach Kristi Crowley. "Julia Roach really stepped up for us on attack with four goals to set a new gameday record."

Julia Roach again led the offense for Westminster, tallying four goals to increase her season total to seven in just three games.

After the Scots went up 3-0 on Westminster in the first five minutes of play, Roach exploded for two goals over the next five minutes to put Westminster back in the game, down just 3-2 after 10 minutes of play.

Monmouth came back to score two more goals to go up 5-2, but the Blue Jays again battled back on another goal from Roach and a free position goal from Paige Price, her first of the season.

In the final 10 minutes of the half, the Scots scored three more times to take a commanding 8-4 lead, but Daisy Humsey made the score 8-5 before the half expired to give the Blue Jays hope for a comeback in the second half.

Despite the strong offensive start for the Blue Jays, the Scots dominated the second half. Roach tallied the lone second half goal for Westminster while Monmouth added eight to make the final score 16-6.

Peyton Hall played all 60 minutes in goal for Westminster, making 19 saves.

"We continue to make improvements and are looking to step up our game even more as we look to our upcoming home games this weekend," said Crowley.

Westminster returns home for a pair of weekend games Friday and Sunday.
