Blue Jays Lose 1-0 In Louisville

Louisville, Ky 10/14/2023- The Westminster College men's soccer team traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to take on the Spalding University Golden Eagles.  The Blue Jays had a chance to go up 1-0 in the opening minute but it was not to be. The two teams would play fifty-five minutes of scoreless soccer until the Golden Eagles found the back of the net 56th minute to take a 1-0 lead and win the game. Spalding improved to 5-5-3 on the year and 2-2-2 in the SLIAC. The Blue Jays fall to 2-9-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in the SLIAC.  

Junior midfielder, Niklas Olsson, has a hot foot as of late and almost put the Blue Jays up 1-0 in the opening minute of the game. It would be the only shot on goal the Blue Jays would have for the rest of the game. They would go into halftime scoreless 0-0. The Golden Eagles would score a goal in the 56th minute to take a 1-0 lead and hold it for the rest of the game.  

Connor Benefield got the start in goal for Westminster and he would make three saves on the four shots he faced.  

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Tuesday, October 17th when they take on Principia College. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
