Blue Jays Finish Sixth In SLIAC Outdoor Championships; Placed 3rd In 4x100 Meter Relay

Greenville, IL 4/29/2023- The Westminster College women's track and field team competed in the SLIAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Greenville University in Greenville, Illinois on Friday, and Saturday. The Blue Jays would finish 6th overall with 16 team points. Ben Wallace (Chicago, IL / Thornton Fractional South), Tanner Gillaspy (Edina, MO/Knox County), Aaron Hurt (Centerview, MO / Crest Ridge), and Elijah Teal (Memphis, TN / Whitehaven) would make up the 4x100 meter relay team and they would finish in third place with a time of 46.65.

Bryce Hale (High Point, MO / Russellville) and Gillaspy competed in the javelin throw on Friday. Hail would finish in seventh place with a throw of 37.93 meters. Gillaspy was tenth with a throw of 33.36 meters.

Lane Martin (Lexington, MO / Lexington) competed in the 5000-meter run and finished eighth with a time of 18:24.85. He also finished fifth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:48.27.

Michael Giles (Pleasant Hill, IL / Pleasant Hill) placed fourth overall in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:18.21. He would also compete in the 800-meter run and had a time of 2:13.31, he would place 13th overall.

Gillaspy would also run in the 400-meter dash and finished ninth with a time of 53.66.

Teal finished sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.06. Teal had a time of 22.96 in the 200-meter dash and placed fifth.

Wallace would finish 13th in the 100 meters with a time of 12.24. He would also run in the 200-meter dash and finished 17th with a time of 25.32.

Gillaspy, Giles, Martin and Hurt would make up the 4x400 meter relay team and they would finish with at time of 3:54.57 and placed seventh.
