St. Louis, Mo-3/14/2022- The Westminster College softball team was back in action after a twenty-two-day break between games. They traveled down I-70 on Monday to take on the Washington University Bears in an afternoon doubleheader in St. Louis. Unfortunately for the Blue Jays, they ran into a red-hot Bears offensive. The Bears are coming off scoring sixteen runs in two games on Sunday. They kept the bats hot against the Jays and won game one 12-0 in five innings and game two 13-0.

Game One: Box Score

Freshman pitcher Haley Miller (O'Fallon, MO / Liberty) started in both games. The Bears got rolling early, putting up five runs in the first inning in game one. They would take on three more in the second and score two runs in the third. In the top of the fourth inning, Emily Esquivel (San Diego, Ca. / Eastlake) got a base hit to lead off the inning. Laney Rosson (Columbia, Mo. / Battle) laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Esquivel to second base. Raigan McKee (Oologah, OK / Oologah) grounded out and moved Esquivel to third. The Blue Jays could not bring her home and would go down 12-0 to the Bears. Miller pitched three innings and notched one strikeout. She gave up eleven runs on ten hits. Andee Raysik (Kingsville, MO / Lone Jack) came in for relief in the fourth inning and pitched one inning, giving up a walk, a hit, and a run.

Raegen Dickinson (Ozark, MO / Ozark) and Esquivel recorded the two hits for the Blue Jays, both going one for two. The Jays struck out one time and could get the ball in play but could not find a gap.

Game Two: Box Score

Miller looked to rebound as she got the start again in game 2. However, the Bears could get on the board early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Three came off at a three-run home run. The Bears would run away with it, defeating the Blue Jays 13 to zero. Miller pitched an inning and third. She gave up eight runs on seven hits. Raysik pitched two and two-thirds innings. She gave up five runs on six hits. Kendall Weber (Lake Saint Louis, MO / Liberty) got the lone hit for the Blue Jays.
