Blue Jays Fall In Florida to Elmhurst

Clermont, FL, 3/26/2022 – The Westminster College softball team was coming off of a two-game sweep in their first day in Florida.  They were hoping for similar success on day two when they squared off against the Elmhurst College Blue Jays.  Elmhurst was able to shut down the Westminster offense and erupted for 11 runs to beat Westminster 11-0 in five innings.  The loss dropped the Westminster record to 2-7 overall.

Westminster managed two hits on the day with Janae Shirk (Springfield, Mo. / Pleasant Hope) and Kasey Ginder (Kirkwood, Mo. / Kirkwood) each hitting singles for the Blue Jays. Haley Miller (O'Fallon, MO / Liberty) started for the Blue Jays on the mound. Miller (0-4) would give up nine runs, eight earned, on six hits in three innings pitched.  She walked six and struck out two.  Andee Raysik (Kingsville, MO / Lone Jack) would come on in relief in the fourth inning. She would allow two runs on three hits in two innings.  Raysik would walk three and strikeout one.

Westminster will try to rebound later Saturday morning as they will take on St. Olaf College at 11:30 a.m CST.
