Monnig Added to Women's Basketball 2018-19 Roster

Westminster women's basketball continues to strengthen its 2018-19 roster with the addition of Jaden Monnig (Glasgow / Glasgow, Mo.).

"I've known Jaden and watched her play since junior high school," said Westminster Women's Basketball Head Coach James Arnold. "She has always stood out at every level and I believe she'll have a chance to do that here as well."

Monnig's high school accomplishments are an impressive list, starting with being named to the All-Tribune First Team as a sophomore. In her sophomore year, she was also named to the KMZU Dream Team, the Fayette Advertiser MVP and First Team, All-District, All-State, and All-Conference First Teams.

In her junior year, Monnig was named the Conference MVP, MBCA All-State, and All-District, including another bid on the KMZU Dream Team. As a senior, she was again named to the All-State, All-District, and All-Conference teams, as well as breaking the Glasgow basketball scoring record. In her career, she has been named the All State Player of the Game on three separate occasions and named a KRES All-Star twice.

Aside from her accomplishments in basketball, Monnig is the National Honor Soceity secretary and Glasgow, was named an alternate for Missouri Girls' State, and won the Optimist Club Social Sciences Award. She is also a member of the Future Business Leaders of America.

"She has been a big part of a very successful high school program and has dominated the stat sheets individually," said Arnold. "She will give us some much needed additional size and depth in the post.  She finishes well around the basket, is a great rebounder, and will really help us on the defensive end.  Jaden has a very high IQ and it that shows on the court as well."

"Walking on the Westminster campus for the first time felt like I had found 'my' college," said Monnig of her decision to attend Westminster. "The education program, the women's basketball coaching staff and the historical yet modern atmosphere of the campus defined my ideal college. Even after visiting other campuses, none of them felt like home in the way Westminster did."
