Westminster Blows by Blackburn

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster women's soccer earned a 4-1 win against Blackburn on senior night. 

The Blue Jays honored seniors Ellen Woolsey, Amy Greene, Marissa Hackbarth, Adrienne Ebersole, and Hannah Wisnewski before the match.  

"Tonight was a great celebration of five seniors who have dedicated an incredible amount of time, energy, heart, and selflessness into this team," said Westminster Head Coach Jen Dyson. "It was great to see the team effort supporting and honoring them with this win."

Westminster moves to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in the SLIAC. 

Blackburn took an early lead in the 12th minute to go up 1-0. Westminster answered in the 24th minute on a goal by Paige Townsend, assistsed by Payton Beeler

The same Blue Jays teamed up for another goal to go up 2-1 in the 28th minute, giving the Blue Jays a 2-1 advantage going into the half.

Westminster increased its lead in the second half on a goal from Morgan Henry, who put in a rebound to give the Blue Jays a 3-1 lead.

Ebersole added a goal of her own to seal the victory for the Blue Jays in the 87th minute, making the final score 4-1 in favor of Westminster. 

The Blue Jays continue SLIAC play with a match against Fontbonne Tuesday at 7 p.m.
