Westminster Women's Soccer Secures SLIAC Tournament Spot

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Westminster women's soccer secured their spot in the SLIAC tournament with a dominating 8-0 win over MacMurray.

With the win, Westminster improves to 9-7 overall and 6-3 in the SLIAC. 

"I'm extremely proud of our girls and the work the entire team has put in to a very challenging season," said Westminster Head Coach Jen Dyson. "I'm looking forward to competing with this group in the tournament!"

Payton Beeler added the first goal on an assist from Heidi Gundy in the 7th minute for the Blue Jays, and the team never looked back. Beeler added her second goal just minutes later to make the score 2-0. 

Gracie Koonce added a goal in the 21st minute, and Adrienne Ebersole and Paige Townsend added goals in the first half to head into the locker room with a 5-0 lead over MacMurray. 

Heidi Gundy netted two goals of her own in the second half to lead the team in points with five. Ebersole scored her second goal of the game in the second half as well. 

The Blue Jays didn't allow a single shot from MacMurray the entire game, outshooting the Highlanders 26-0. 

Westminster competes in the SLIAC tournament Nov. 2 at Webster for the first round.
