Strong Outing for the Blue Jays Sets Up Third-Place Match Against Webster

*2019 SLIAC Tournament

-Elsah, Ill-

To kick off this year's SLIAC Tournament, the Westminster Women's Team came out firing. In their first match on the day, the #5 seeded Blue Jays upset the #4 Blackburn Beavers in a blowout, 5-0.

All three doubles matches against the Beavers were dominated by the Blue Jays, with the three Westminster duos winning by scores of 8-4, 8-1, and 8-3, respectively.

In singles, the Blue Jays only needed two victories to complete the clean sheet. Those wins came from similarly dominant performances from Sydney Attebery and Clara Baldwin.

Following the victory, Westminster would continue through the tournament to face the top-seeded Greenville Panthers.

Against the Panthers, the Blue Jays held their own in all of the matches but ultimately fell on the day, 5-2.

Both Natalie Tiffany and Grace Northcott earned big singles victories on the day, each coming in straight-sets.

In doubles, Westminster kept within striking distance in all three matches but couldn't surpass the Panthers' strong, consistent play.

Following the tough loss, the Blue Jays will wrap up their season when they play for third-place against the Webster Gorlocks. The match is set to start at 11:00am at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park in St. Louis, Mo.
