Greenville, Ill., May 1, 2021 – The Westminster College women's track and field team competed in the SLIAC Outdoor Championships over the weekend on Friday and Saturday hosted by Greenville University.  The Blue Jays would use a pair of championship efforts by Avylina Powell-Qualo and Haleigh StClair and a pair of second place finishes by Katy Allen to finish in 5^th place out of 8 teams with 45 points.

Powel-Qualo competed in the high jump on Friday evening.  Powel-Qualo has won every high jump competition in every meet this season.  This was no different.  She would clear 1.62 meters to win the competition.  She currently holds the 4^th highest mark in the nation this season at 1.70 meters.

Haleigh StClair would win the javelin competition on Friday night.  She bested the field with a throw of 31.51 meters to win by 3.14 meters over the second-best thrower.  The mark was a PR for StClair and breaks the Westminster College modern day school record that was held by Taylor Howard and was set in 2015 at 31.25 meters.  StClair would also compete in the shot put where she would finish in 5^th place with a mark of 9.57 meters, scoring 4 points. She would also record a 6^th place finish in the discus with a mark of 27.31 meters.

Katy Allen would compete in the long jump and triple jump at the championships.  Allen would take home 2^nd place in the long jump with a mark of 5.07 meters. The mark was a PR for Allen and also broke the Westminster College modern day school record. The old record was 5.01 meters and was set back in 2015 and it was held by Anna Johnson.  Allen wasn't done as she would also finish 2^nd in the triple jump with a mark of 10.81 meters. That mark was also good for a PR for Allen and would also break the Westminster College modern day school record. The record had stood since 2015 and it was also held by Anna Johnson with a mark of 10.77 meters.  Allen's performance at the championships caught the attention of the conference coaches an they voted her the 2021 SLIAC Women's Field Newcomer of the Year.

Sophomore Kate Rable would compete in two events, the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash.  She would finish 7^th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:14.10 scoring two points for the team.

Celena Weber and Emily Nelson would both compete in the Discus and shot-put events.The Blue Jays will return almost all of their roster for next season and will look to improve on this season's finish.
