Westminster Volleyball Downs Fontbonne in Five Sets

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster volleyball overcame Fontbonne in a five-set thriller for its first conference win of the season.

The Blue Jays improve to 2-3 on the year with the win and 1-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

Westminster took the first set with a score of 25-22, followed by a Fontbonne victory of 25-23 to even the score. 

The Griffins then came out strong in the third set to dominate 25-19, but Westminster came thundering back to win the second two sets and claim the victory. 

Ashley Kistaitis led the way offensively for Westminster with 14 kills to lead all hitters. She also tallied one service ace. Natalie Needy and Hannah Marshall recorded 11 and 10 kills, respectively. 

Theresa Becker led the Blue Jay offense with 43 assists and four service aces. She and Bridget Ringwald each recorded 22 digs. 

Westminster travels to Nebraska Wesleyan for a tournament Friday and Saturday. They begin the tournament with a 3:30 p.m. match-up Friday against Wisconsin-Platteville.
