Westminster Volleyball Wins Twice in Eureka

EUREKA, Ill. - Westminster volleyball overcame Eureka and Iowa Wesleyan to add two more conference victories.

The Blue Jays improve to 7-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to remain in third place behind Principia and Webster. 

The game one, Eureka took Westminster to five sets. The Blue Jays fell behind 2-0, but came back to take the next two sets. In the third, the Blue Jays recovered strong to earn a double-digit win. In the fourth set, Westminster barely hung on, winning 26-24, to take the game to the fifth set. 

Westminster won the fifth set 15-9 to hang on to the win. 

Natalie Needy led the team offensively with 19 kills while Teresa Becker tallied 55 assists, a season high. Bridget Ringwald added 24 digs. 

In game two, Westminster swept Iowa Wesleyan 3-0 to end the day. 

Allie Kennebeck and Hannah Marshall led the team in the second match of the day nine kills. Becker had 35 assists and Ringwald recorded 16 kills. 

Westminster travels to Blackburn Wednesday to continue SLIAC play.
