ST. LOUIS - Eryka Wanyonyi (Columbia, Mo. / Hickman) and Erica Schrader (St. Louis, Mo. / St. Pius X) have been named the SLIAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Both were key contributions to Westminster's victories over Webster and then conference leader Greenville.
Wanyonyi was a force for the Blue Jays this week recording 41 kills, three service aces and 32 digs. The freshman outside hitter registered a season high 24 kills in Westminster's thrilling 3-2 win over Greenville. Wanyonyi averaged 5.13 kills per set and hit .304 on the week.
Schrader, a sophomore defensive specialist, averaged 4.38 digs per set on the week. She recorded 14 digs in a 3-0 sweep over Webster and tallied 21 digs in the come-from-behind win over Greenville. She also recorded a pair of service aces.
The Blue Jays play again tomorrow at Iowa Wesleyan.
