Westminster Volleyball Wins Two Games on Senior Day

FULTON, Mo. - The Westminster volleyball team defeated Fontbonne and Principia on Saturday to earn a pair of conference wins. The Blue Jays have now won five games in a row and are undefeated at home. Their record stands at 15-7 overall and 13-2 in conference.

In the first game the Blue Jays won bested Fontbonne in three sets. Westminster won the first two sets 25-21 before taking the third set 25-16. Eryka Wanyonyi led the Blue Jays with 12 kills and also tallied 15 digs. Ashley Kistaitis also recorded a double-double for Westminster, finishing the match with 10 kills and 10 digs. Erica Schrader led all players with 18 digs in the game.

Prior to Westminster's second match of the day the team honored their three seniors: Teresa Becker, Ashley Kistaitis and manager Chyanne Schwerdt.

Westminster won in the three sets over Principia in their second game of the day. The Blue Jays defeated the Panthers 25-19 in the first set and 25-17 in the second set. The Blue Jays hit .519 on their way to a 25-8 win the third set to sweep the match 3-0.

Wanyonyi (15) and Kistaitis (10) each reached double-digit in kills. Wanyonyi was also one of four Blue Jays to recorded at least 10 digs. She was joined by Becker (12), Schrader (17) and Allie Kennebeck (10).

The Blue Jays will close out the regular season next weekend with a quad match hosted by Principia.
