MT. PLEASANT, Iowa - Westminster volleyball secured two sweeps to open St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, winning 3-0 over MacMurray and Eureka.

The Blue Jays recorded swift and dominant wins over both teams. In the first set of the day, MacMurray threatened to take a win but Westminster recovered from a slow start to take a 25-22 win, the closest set of the six that Westminster would play in the day.

In game one, both Ashley Kistaitis and Eryka Wanyonyi recorded double-doubles in kills and digs. While Kistaitis added 13 kills and 10 digs, Wanyonyi brought home 11 kills and 21 digs, just behind defensive specialist Erica Schrader who added 25.

Kistaitis led the offense again in the second game against Eureka, adding 10 more kills for her fourth straight match in double-digit kills.

Four Blue Jays recorded double-digit digs in game two, including 15 from Schrader, 13 from Wanyonyi, and 10 each from Teresa Becker and Kistaitis.

Westminster stays on the road and continues in conference play with a match at Fontbonne Wednesday, Sept. 25.
