Women's Cross Country Places Second at Illinois College Invitational

The Westminster women's cross country team placed second out of ten teams at the Illinois College Invitational on Saturday, October 17. The Westminster Blue Jays finished with three runners in the top 10 to help them to just 69 points.

The Blue Jays finished above the other three St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) teams running. Westminster beat out Webster by 22 points, Principia by 56 points and Blackburn by 212 points.

Sophomore Taylor Howard took sixth place out of 67 runners with her 24:32.49 time. Senior Brier Skogsberg finished just after, placing eighth with a time of 24:38.96. Freshman Jessie Kuykendall was the final top ten runner for the Blue Jays, placing tenth with a time of 24:54.12.

Madison Zack placed 20th for the team with a race time of 25:36.65. Sophomore Alex Rauscher competed in her first race of the season and placed 25th. Her time was 26:25.99. Senior Claire Gibby rounded out the Blue Jay team with a 32nd place finish and a time of 27:38.24.

The Blue Jays will have next weekend off before racing in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championship on Saturday, October 31, in Hillsboro, Illinois.
