Three Blue Jays Earn SLIAC Player of the Week Honors

The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced the first SLIAC Players of the Week and Westminster had three named to the list. Senior Brier Skogsberg was named the SLIAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, senior Drake Trease was named the SLIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and sophomore Morgan Henry was named the SLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Brier Skogsberg, a senior from Kirksville, Mo., captured a first place finish in the Panther Open hosted by Principia College. Skogsberg completed the 4K course with a time of 16:15, edging out 32 other runners. Her mile pace of 6:32 helped her finish nearly six seconds faster than the closest competitor.

Drake Trease, a senior from Nixa, Mo., helped the Blue Jays to a pair of wins in the opening week of the season as he recorded two goals and two assists in three games. Trease notched his team's only goal in a loss to Millikin but responded with a goal and assist in a his team's win over Lakeland. He closed out the week with an assist in a 4-0 win over Illinois College. On the week, Trease finished with six total points, putting five of 13 shots on goal.

Morgan Henry, a sophomore from Camdenton, Mo., paced her team with three goals in three games, picking up two wins. Henry netted the game-winning goal in her team's season opening contest, a 2-1 win over Millikin. In her next outing, she tallied two goals in a win over Lakeland, giving her six total points on the week. Henry put three of eight shots on goal on the week, with all three shots on goal finding the back of the net.
