Westminster Softball Announces Incoming Fall Recruiting Class

FULTON, Mo. – Westminster Softball Head Coach Joe Henderson has announced the addition of 12 newcomers to the 2019 roster.

"We are very pleased with this extremely strong class both academically and on the field," said Henderson. "Many of the young ladies are All-District players that have excelled. In addition, several took their teams deep into post season play. I expect them to make an impact immediately and am beyond excited for this class to be on campus."

Name: Susan Buchanan
High School/Hometown: Civic Memorial (Alton, Ill.)
Intend Major: Pre-Med
Softball Honors: First Team All-Conference outfielder as a junior, Second team All-Conference outfield as a sophomore, Honorable Mention at third base as a freshman, broke all-time home run record, High Honor Roll, played in Junior All Star Game in 2017
Why She Chose Westminster: It has the major I want, I fell in love with the campus and their softball program.

High School/Hometown: CK McClatchy High School (Sacramento, Cal.)
Intended Major: Math
Softball Honors: All-Metro First Team 2015, 2016, 2017
Why She Chose Westminster: I chose Westminster College because I've heard great things about the education and campus, when I visited the school all of the things I was told became real and I immediately fell in love with the entire atmosphere of the school. I can really see myself succeed at Westminster in the years to come and I can't wait for move in day!

Why She Chose Westminster: Why Westminster? That answer is simple—the college has an outstanding reputation for academic excellence. The campus is beautiful. It's small, and I can easily walk to anywhere I need to be on campus. I like the fact that classes are small, and that I will not get lost in the crowd or just be a number. My professors will care if I am in class and if I succeed.

Why She Chose Westminster: I love the size of the school and the small student to teacher ratio. I was not interested in attending a large university. Everyone at Westminster made me feel so much at home. I cannot wait to be part of the Blue Jay Softball Team!
