NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Westminster men's soccer completed the opening road trip Monday, being shut out by North Central.

The Blue Jays start the season 0-2 with the loss.

"We had a rough day today," said Westminster Head Coach Adam Galla. "We were slow in every facet of the game and that will make for a very long day at this level."

The Cardinals struck early, scoring a goal in the 17th minute to go up 1-0.

Westminster stepped up their defensive game for the next 54 minutes to keep the Cardinal from scoring, but North Central added a second goal in the 71st minute.

Andrew Sprengel, Matthew Schulte, and Brent Lampen were the three Blue Jays to tally a shot, including one on goal from Sprengel, but couldn't connect with the back of the net.

Connor Bandre' and Chase Vogt split time in goal, each allowing one goal and each making four saves.

The Blue Jays stay on the road to face Knox Friday at 4:30 p.m., but open at home Saturday against Illinois College at 7 p.m.

"We'll get some recovery after a long trip and try to iron a few things out before Knox Friday."
