Westminster Wrestling Takes Down Fontbonne at Home

FULTON, Mo. – In their only home dual of the season, the Westminster men's wrestling team earned a 31-18 victory over Fontbonne. 

Brock Davis pinned his opponent in the opening match at 125 pounds to give the Blue Jays a 6-0 match lead. The Griffins tied the match at 6-6 with a pin of their own before Dalton Landreth grinded out a 7-3 decision at the 141-pound weight class to give the Blue Jays a 9-6 lead.

In the 149-pound weight class Sean Sax continued his strong start to the season with a 20-3 tech fall to give the Blue Jays five more points. Sax is now 8-0 on the year and is nationally ranked at 149 pounds. 

Cody Rachatellelle picked up a win by forfeit at 157 to give Westminster another six points. The Blue Jays scored an additional six team off a pin by Jacob Warren in the 165-pound weight class.

Hunter Tessman gave Westminster five more points after winning his match by a tech fall (19-1). With the win, Tessman improves to 6-3 on the season.

Fontbonne closed out the match with pins at 184 and 285 to make the final score 31-18 in favor of Westminster.

The Blue Jays will return to action this weekend at the North Central Invitational on Saturday.
