Westminster Women's Soccer Picks Up Conference Win at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Westminster women's soccer picked up a 2-1 conference win at Spalding.

The Blue Jays improve to 5-2-1 and 1-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. 

"We know going into today's match that it would be another battle," said Westminster Head Coach Wendy Sanchez. "We responded well, adjusted, and came out with another win."

Westminster struck first in the 11th minute on an unassisted goal form Lexi Hart

Both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the first half, going to the locker rooms at 1-0 in favor of Westminster. 

Gracie Koonce added a second goal for the Blue Jays in the 76th minute. 

The Golden Eagles followed up two minutes later with a goal of their own, but Westminster was able to hold their lead to take the win in regulation. 

Sarah Cradick played all 90 minutes in goal, making six saves. 

Westminster only tallied five shots, but connected on two of them to go up 2-1.

"The momentum we have going for us and every player's contribution is great to see," said Sanchez. "Now it's time to get ready for our match Wednesday."

The Blue Jays return home to face Webster Wednesday at 5 p.m.
