09/15/2024 Fulton, MO- On September 14, 2024, the Westminster Blue Jays faced off against the Millikin Big Blue at Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium in Fulton. Westminster put up a strong fight but fell 1-0 in a tightly contested match.
The game remained scoreless through the first half, with both teams playing solid defense. Westminster managed eight shots overall, two of which were on target, but they could not find the back of the net. Goalkeeper Kendall Chigas had an impressive performance, making five saves to keep the Blue Jays in the match.
The decisive moment came in the 78th minute when Millikin's Izzy Jones capitalized on an opportunity, scoring the lone goal of the match, her first of the season. Jones' goal proved to be the difference, as Westminster was unable to answer in the final minutes.
