Blue Jays Fall 5-1 in Memphis

09/23/2024 Memphis, TN- Westminster College faced a tough challenge against Rhodes College, ultimately falling 5-1 on the road in Memphis, Tennessee. The Blue Jays struggled to maintain possession and were unable to keep pace with a persistent Rhodes offense throughout the match.

Rhodes opened the scoring early, netting the first goal in the 16th minute. The Lynx doubled the lead to 2-0 by the 36th minute. Just as the half was winding down, Westminster found a glimmer of hope when sophomore Destynee Orf scored, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

However, the second half saw Rhodes regain control, extending the lead to 3-1 just five minutes in. Goals at the 54:00 and 77:54 minute marks pushed the score to 5-1, sealing Westminster's fate.

The Blue Jays managed only one shot on goal during the match, an underwhelming contrast to Rhodes' offensive display, which included 29 shots and 17 on target. Goalkeeper Reagan Chigas had a busy day, making 12 saves but faced relentless pressure from the Rhodes attack.

The Blue Jays will look to regroup and refine their strategies as they prepare for their upcoming match at home against Monmouth College on Wednesday September 25th at 6:00PM.
