10/05/2024 Fulton, MO- In a commanding performance at Kent & Judith Mueller Stadium, Westminster College's women's soccer team secured a 4-0 victory over Principia College on October 5, 2024.
The Blue Jays dominated from the starting whistle, controlling possession and applying relentless pressure on Principia's defense.
The first goal came early in the match, with Allie Auer striking in the 1st minute off an assist from Annalise Beck to put Westminster ahead 1-0. The Blue Jays continued to press throughout the first half, with good ball movement and runs, creating multiple scoring opportunities.
The second half saw Westminster extend their lead further. Savannah Feltrop converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute, followed by another goal shortly after, scored by Principia's own player, increasing the score to 3-0. Faith Coates added to the tally with another successful penalty kick in the 80th minute, sealing a 4-0 win for Westminster.
Goalkeeper Mia Turner started the game and Reagan Chigas took over for the second half. They both kept a clean sheet for the Blue Jays, only having to make a combined one save in the match.
Westminster's dominance was reflected in the statistics, outshooting Principia 17-1 and earning nine corner kicks compared to none for Principia. The match saw a total of 30 fouls, with Principia receiving 18 and Westminster 12.
With this victory, Westminster improves their season record to 5-5-1 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 2-0-0. Principia drops to 0-8-0 overall and 0-2-0 in conference matchups.
Next, Westminster looks to maintain their momentum as they continue conference play against Spalding University on Thursday October 10th again at home at the Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium, kicking off at 5:30pm.
