Westminster Volleyball Fights Hard, Falls 1-3 In Non-Conference Contest

9/11/24 Fulton, MO - The Westminster Women's Volleyball team faced William Woods University in a challenging match in Fulton, MO, falling in four sets: 25-23, 14-25, 17-25, 17-25. Despite a promising start, the Blue Jays could not maintain their momentum, allowing William Woods to take control of the match after the opening set. 

Westminster opened the match strong, narrowly winning the first set 25-23. However, William Woods quickly responded with a dominant second set, claiming a 25-14 victory. The Blue Jays struggled to regain their rhythm in the remaining sets, dropping the third and fourth by identical scores of 25-17. With this loss, Westminster's record falls to 1-9 for the season, while William Woods improved to 7-6. 

The Blue Jays demonstrated persistence throughout the match, with several players contributing across the board. Westminster's offensive efforts were highlighted by Katelynn Jackson, who led the team with 12 kills, and Meghan Nolte, who contributed 9 kills with an impressive .421 hitting percentage. Kylie Hasselbacher and Madisyn Ellis also played key roles in the attack, recording 11 kills each. On the defensive end, Haylie Schnake tallied 19 digs, while Ellis added 13 digs of her own. Setter Emma Behrmann contributed 24 assists, continuing to be an anchor for the Blue Jays' playmaking.  

Westminster will look to regroup as they prepare for the next tournament taking place at Monmouth College on September 13-14.
