9/22/24 Fulton, MO - The Westminster volleyball team hosted a tri-match and came away victorious, sweeping both Mississippi University for Women (MUW) and Eureka College in straight sets. These two wins bring the Blue Jays to a 7-11 record, 3-0 in the SLIAC.
In the first match, Westminster overpowered MUW with a commanding 25-11, 25-13, 25-11 victory. The Blue Jays were relentless on offense, with standout performances from Kylie Hasselbacher, who recorded 12 kills with a .429 hitting percentage, and Madisyn Ellis, who added 7 kills. Emma Behrmann directed the offense with 18 assists, while defensive specialists Haylie Schnake and Liv Hart contributed 13 and 12 digs. Westminster's balanced team effort proved too much for the Owls to handle.
In the second match of the day, Westminster faced conference foe Eureka College and continued their winning form, sweeping the match 25-19, 25-20, 25-14. The Blue Jays' offensive efficiency was once again on display, with Meghan Nolte leading the charge with 11 kills on a .474 hitting percentage, followed closely by Katelynn Jackson with 10 kills and 6 digs. Hasselbacher and Paige Rowland also made significant contributions of 8 kills. The Blue Jays' defense held firm throughout both matches, with Schnake leading the team with 15 digs.
With these two sweeps, the Blue Jays extend their winning streak and remain undefeated in conference play. They will look to carry this momentum into the next tri-match this upcoming weekend at Spalding University.
