11/2/24 Fulton, MO – Westminster volleyball displayed grit and determination, clinching two five-set victories against Fontbonne and Webster. The Blue Jays' impressive effort moves them to 17-15 overall and 13-3 in SLIAC play, highlighting their readiness as they enter the final stretch of the season.
In the first match of the day, Westminster earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Fontbonne, with set scores of 13-25, 28-26, 25-22, 22-25, and 15-9. Leading the charge was Meghan Nolte, who posted a team-high 16 kills on a .400 hitting percentage and added five block assists and a solo block, totaling 19.5 points. Katelynn Jackson contributed an impressive performance with 10 kills, 10 digs, and two block assists, while Kylie Hasselbacher added 15 kills and five block assists, rounding out a balanced offense. Setter Emma Behrmann distributed 36 assists to pace the Blue Jays' attack, and libero Haylie Schnake anchored the defense with 28 digs. Westminster's resilience and balanced approach powered them to a decisive 15-9 victory in the final set.
In their second match, Westminster went head-to-head with Webster and emerged victorious with a 3-2 win, marked by scores of 25-20, 16-25, 25-27, 25-19, and 15-13. Jackson led the offense with an outstanding 19 kills, while Hasselbacher contributed 16 kills, and Madisyn Ellis added 13 kills. Schnake delivered from the service line with 3 aces and tallied a match-high 30 digs. Behrmann directed the offense with 31 assists, supported by Liv Hart with 15 assists. Brooke Kiel dominated the net with 7 block assists, while Nolte and Hasselbacher each contributed three blocks.
With these wins, Westminster clinches the #2 seed in conference and will be heading into the postseason. The Blue Jays will prepare for their next matchup, aiming to continue their winning streak and keep their season going.
