Blue Jays Drop SLIAC Opener 2-0 To Scots

Batesville, AR 9/22/2023- The Westminster College men's soccer team traveled to Batesville, Arkansas to start the SLIAC season against the Lyon College Scots who are making their SLIAC debut. The Scots would score back-to-back goals in the 11th minute to give them a quick 2-0 lead and win the game. Lyon improved to 4-4 on the season and is now 1-0 in the conference. The Blue Jays fell to 0-7 overall and 0-1 in the SLIAC. 

Lyon would smother the Blue Jay attack, limiting them to four shots total in the game and only one shot on goal. Francois Moua attempted a shot in the 80th minute to get Westminster on the board, but the Scots keeper stopped it. 

Toby Hughes would get the start in goal for the Jays, and he would make four saves on six shots faced. 

The Blue Jays will travel to Springfield, Missouri on Tuesday, September 26th to play against Baptist Bible College and try to get their first win of the season. The kick-off time for the game is 1:30 PM.
