Blue Jays Win Big On Senior Night

Fulton, Mo 10/22/2023- The Westminster College men's soccer team hosted the Blackburn College Beavers on senior night. The Blue Jays would score one goal in the first half and then added on three more in the second half, winning 4-0. They improved to 4-9-1 on the season and 3-3-1 in SLIAC, currently sitting in fifth place with two games remaining. Blackburn falls to 1-12-2 and 0-7 in the SLIAC. 

Travis Beig would score his fifth goal of the season off an assist from Noah Naumann to put the Blue Jays up 1-0 in the 14th minute. Freshman Braedon Cairer would score two goals in the second half in the 61st and 78th minute. Fellow freshman Joel Litten would cap things off with the Blue Jay's fourth and final goal in the 82nd minute. 

Senior Conner Benfield got the start in goal and would play the first half. He would make three saves and was credited with the win, improving to 3-3-1 on the year. Toby Hughes would start the second half and play for thirty-seven minutes. Senior Hunter Moore would come in and play for seven minutes and would make his first career save on senior night. 

After the game, the Blue Jays honored their eight seniors. 

The Blue Jays will be back in action on Wednesday, October 25th when they take on Fontbonne University. Kick-off will take place at 5:00 p.m. from Kent and Judith Mueller Stadium.
