Townsend Nets Hat Trick Westminster Women's Soccer Victory

CARLINVILLE, Ill. - Westminster women's soccer earned their first conference win of the year with a 6-0 win over Blackburn in which Paige Townsend scored three goals.

The Blue Jays improve to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference. 

Gracie Koonce scored the first goal for the Blue Jays on an assist from Payton Beeler in the 33rd minute, and from then on out, it was all Westminster offense. 

Paige Townsend took over at the end of the first half into the second, scoring her first goal in the 41st minute on an assist from Isabel Peng

In the 54th minute, Townsend again netted a ball from Koonce to go up 3-0 on the Beavers. 

Koonce netted another ball on an assist from Townsend, followed by a goal from Morgan Henry, to give Westminster the dominating 6-0 victory. 

The Westminster defense was solid in the back, not allowing a single shot from the Beavers. 

The Blue Jays return home to continue in conference play Wednesday against Greenville.
