Westminster Women's Soccer Victorious on Senior Night

FULTON, Mo. - Westminster women's soccer honored its four senior with a 2-1 win over Fontbonne on Senior Night.

The Blue Jays improve to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, tied for fourth place.

"I'm proud of the resiliency the team showed tonight when fighting on of the top teams in the conference," said Westminster Head Coach Jen Dyson. "They made us battle for every minute and it was great to see how many little things we have been working on started happening more often."

The Griffins only goal was the first of the game in the 15th minute.

From there on out, it was all Westminster. Natalie Schulte tied the game at one on an assist from Paige Townsend in the 37th minute, and then two minutes later, Schulte assisted the game-winner scored by Gracie Koonce

The Blue Jays held on to the lead with a shutout second half.

Before the game, Westminster honored its four seniors, Payton Beeler, Morgan Henry, Honor Kehde, and Paige Townsend

"These four seniors have contributed to much to our program," said Dyson. "I'm happy to say our work is not done yet and I don't think there is much more you could ask for from them. It's hard to fathom how quick time has gone with them. I appreciate all they have put into what we are doing and I am looking forward to growing with them from here."

Westminster goes on the road the rest of the season to continue to fight for a spot in the SLIAC tournament. They face Iowa Wesleyan Saturday for a 3 o'clock kickoff.
