The Westminster College Blue Jays baseball team's shortstop Payton Whitehead has been named the Diamond Sports Baseball SLIAC Hitter of the Week.
Whitehead went 4-for-6 at the plate in a doubleheader sweep of Eureka. He finished the day with two roubles, adding two home runs and four runs batted in. Whitehead knocked both of his long balls in the second game and finished the doubleheader with a 2.000 slugging percentage.
In day two of the series on Monday Whitehead went 6-9 with two doubles, a triple, a grand slam and 5 more RBI's. That ladies and gentlemen is a great series.
The Blue Jays baseball team will be back in action on Saturday March 27th when they will welcome the Blackburn College Beavers to town for a four game series. It will be the home opener for the Jays. Saturdays game times are set for 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Saucier Field. The series will conclude on Sunday with game times set for 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
