09/13/2024 Fulton, MO- Westminster's men's soccer team faced William Woods on September 13, 2024, at the North Campus Athletic Complex in Fulton, Missouri. Despite an early equalizer, the Blue Jays fell 4-1 to the Owls. 

William Woods opened the scoring in the 6th minute, with Omar Murillo capitalizing on a corner from Pedro Salmon to give the home team an early lead. Westminster quickly responded, as senior forward, Niklas Olsson, found the back of the net in the 11th minute to level the score 1-1. This marked Olsson's 14th career goal, bringing his total points to 33, with plenty of opportunities ahead in his senior season to further build on those numbers. 

The second half, however, saw William Woods pull away. In the 70th minute, Miles Andrews put William Woods ahead 2-1 with a goal assisted by Breck McGrail. McGrail added another goal just eight minutes later, extending the lead to 3-1. In the 86th minute, David Fink sealed the win for William Woods with the final goal of the match making it a 4-1 win for the Owls.  

Westminster struggled to create offensive chances, registering just five total shots, with two on goal. William Woods dominated with 15 shots, nine on target. Toby Hughes, Westminster's goalkeeper, made four saves, but it wasn't enough to overcome the relentless pressure from the William Woods attack. 

The loss drops Westminster to 0-5-0 on the season, while William Woods improves to 4-1-2. Westminster will take a week break to regroup and then hit the road to play on Friday, September 20th at 7:00pm against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
