Westminster Falls to DePauw 3-0 at Home

10/01/2024 Fulton, MO- The Westminster Blue Jays faced a tough opponent in DePauw University on Tuesday evening, falling 3-0 at Kent & Judith Mueller Stadium.

DePauw opened the scoring late in the first half with two quick goals in the 39th and 40th minute. Westminster's defense held firm for the majority of the match, stepping in effectively to limit DePauw's chances, but was unable to keep them from adding a third goal in the 84th minute.

Westminster goalkeeper Hunter Deeken played a key role in keeping the game close, making 11 saves out of 14 shots on goal. The defense, despite the scoreline, worked hard to disrupt DePauw's rhythm and prevent further damage. However, the Blue Jays continued to struggle in the attacking third, managing seven shots but unable to find the back of the net.

The Blue Jays' main challenge is in the midfield and attack, where they lose possession too quickly, preventing consistent offensive pressure. This leaves the defense, even when performing well, to face constant opposition attacks. Despite tough results, the defense has been a strong point, making key stops and holding off aggressive plays.

Westminster will look to bounce back when they host Principia College this Saturday, October 5th at 7:30PM at the Kent & Judith Mueller Stadium.
