Blue Jays Grab 6-3 Conference Win To End Regular Season

St. Louis, Mo. - The Westminster men's tennis team grabbed a 6-3 conference win over Webster University on Wednesday afternoon to win their final match of the regular season. The Blue Jays conclude the regular season with a 3-8 record and a 2-2 conference record. 

The Blue Jays ended doubles play with a 2-1 advantage over the Webster Gorloks. The duo of Nate Connell and Peter Hasenmueller in the number one spot won 8-3. In the number two doubles spot, Kyle Collins and Scott Strough defeated their opponent 8-5. In the number three spot, Adam Fuchs and Grant Peterson fell 8-3.

The Blue Jays won four out of the six points in doubles play to aid in the 6-3 victory. The Blue Jays won in the first, third, fourth and fifth spots. In the number one singles spot, Connell defeated his opponent 6-2 and 6-1. Collins grabbed two 6-2 set wins in the three spot, and Hasenmueller topped his opponent in the four spot with 6-0 and 6-1 scores. Strough won the final point for the Blue Jays in the five spot with his 6-1 sweep over the Gorloks. 

The Blue Jays take a week off before competing in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament on April 24 in St. Louis, Missouri.
