3/15/25 Fulton, MO – The Westminster men's volleyball team capped off a dominant weekend at home, securing two more straight-set victories in Day 2 of the tri-match. The Blue Jays (16-12) took down Rockford and Maranatha Baptist to extend their winning streak to four matches.
Game 1: Westminster 3, Rockford 0
The Blue Jays held off a scrappy Rockford squad in the opening match, securing a sweep with a thrilling 28-26 finish in the third set.
Derrick Turner led the way offensively with 13 kills on a .600 hitting percentage, while setter Jake Schawo-McAlister distributed 28 assists. Westminster's balanced attack saw contributions from multiple hitters, including Lucas Brown (6 kills) and Khalil Peterson (4 kills).
Defensively, the Blue Jays controlled the net with multiple block assists from Peterson, Brown, and Luke Rohrbach. Ryan Rhodes anchored the back row with nine digs.
Game 2: Westminster 3, Maranatha Baptist
Westminster closed out the weekend with another dominant performance, sweeping Maranatha Baptist for the second time in two days.
The Blue Jays spread the offensive workload, as James Ormsby (7 kills), Connor Layman (8 kills), and Rohrbach (6 kills) all had efficient attacking performances. Keegan Nase tallied 24 assists, and the team recorded seven service aces. Westminster controlled the defense, holding Maranatha to just 14 points in the second set. Adam Rosh and Juan Pico combined for nine digs in the victory.
The Blue Jays will be back in action on March 21, 2025, when they host Wabash in another home matchup.
