1/19/25 Fulton, MO – The Westminster men's volleyball team faced a tough opponent in Augustana College on Saturday evening, falling in straight sets (20-25, 14-25, 17-25). The Blue Jays now hold a 4-3 record as they prepare to regroup ahead of their next match on January 24 at Marian University in Wisconsin.
Westminster opened the match with energy, staying competitive in the first set, but Augustana's balanced attack and defensive pressure proved too much for the Blue Jays to overcome. Dalio Taouil led the team offensively with seven kills, contributing seven points. Connor Layman and Derrick Turner each added five kills, while Khalil Peterson showed efficiency at the net, recording three kills with a .429 hitting percentage and contributing 4.5 points. Jake Schawo-McAlister continued to guide the offense, tallying 23 assists and three kills on four attempts for a .750 hitting percentage. Defensively, Ryan Rhodes anchored the back row with 11 digs, and Aidan Ortmann chipped in six digs.
Despite the setback, Westminster remains focused as they prepare for the Marian Tournament on January 24-25. The team aims to refine its offensive execution and build on the early-season experience as it continues its inaugural campaign.
