Westminster Splits Tri-Match at Greenville

3/10/25 Fulton, MO - The Westminster men's volleyball team went 1-1 in a competitive tri-match in Greenville, IL, sweeping Bryant & Stratton College - Buffalo before falling in a five-set thriller to Mount St. Joseph.  

Match 1 vs Bryant & Stratton (3-0) 

Westminster controlled the opening match, securing a straight-set victory over Bryant & Stratton. The Blue Jays spread the offensive attack, with Derrick Turner leading the way with six kills on an efficient .545 hitting percentage. James Ormsby added nine kills while Aidan Ortmann posted six kills and two aces. Keegan Nase contributed 14 assists, while Ryan Rhodes anchored the defense with 10 digs. The Blue Jays kept pressure on Bryant & Stratton throughout the match, closing out the third set in extra points to complete the sweep. 

Match 2 vs Mount St. Joseph (2-3) 

In the second match, Westminster showed resilience, rallying from a two-set deficit to force a fifth set before ultimately falling 15-13. Turner delivered a standout performance, leading all players with 17 kills, while Dalio Taouil added 12 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. Jake Schawo-McAlister distributed 35 assists and contributed five kills. Defensively, Rhodes recorded 13 digs, while Luke Rohrbach posted five digs and two blocks. Despite a slow start, Westminster found its rhythm in the third and fourth sets, using strong attacking from Turner and Taouil to even the match. However, Mount St. Joseph managed to edge out the Blue Jays in a tight fifth set. 

Westminster will return home for another tri-match on March 14, taking on Simpson and Maranatha Baptist as they look to get back above .500 on the season.
