Blue Jays Fall On Senior Day

Fulton, Mo., April 14, 2021 – The Westminster College men's soccer team would host Webster, the top ranked team in the SLIAC, tonight in Fulton.  The Blue Jays would fight valiantly all night but all the breaks seemed to go Webster's way.  The Gorloks would come out of the game on top 4-1.  The loss would drop the Blue Jays record to 6-3-1 and 5-3-1 in SLIAC play.

Webster would score first in the 12th minute on an own goal.  The Blue Jays would attempt to clear a bouncing ball but the attempt ended up in the back of the Blue Jay net for a 1-0 Webster lead.  In the 19th minute the Blue Jays would be whistled for a foul in the box.  Webster's Justin Kohler would score the resulting penalty kick to make it 2-0.

The Blue Jays would strike back in the 37th minute as Kendal Schrader would play a ball to Schulte who would flick the ball over his head and across the goal mouth where it found Bukuru Dieudone who tucked the ball into the net inside the far post for his first collegiate goal that brought the score to 2-1 heading into the halftime break.

The Blue Jays came out in the second half and nearly tied the game up in the opening minutes.  Jordan Kahrhoff would take a pass and just miss a great opportunity wide of the goal.

A minute later in the 47th minute on a quick counter attack the Gorloks struck again to make it 3-1 and then finally adding an insurance goal in the 88th minute for the final score of 4-1.

Blue Jay keeper Chase Vogt faced 9 shots on goal and made 5 saves.  The Blue Jays outshot the Gorloks 16-10 but failed to find the back of the net after their first goal.

After the game concluded the Blue Jay men's soccer program honored their 10 graduating seniors; Justin Gerdiman, Sam Heckart, Philip Udinyiwe, Patrick Wisnewski, Jordan Kahrhoff, Joshua Udinyiwe, Aaron Guilliams, Jake Skaggs, Luciano Zarinelli and Chase Vogt.
