Fulton, Mo., April 14, 2021 – The Blue Jays women's soccer team entered Wednesday nights contest sitting in second place in the SLIAC race with a chance to lock up the spot with a win on Senior Night. The Webster University Gorloks had other ideas as they would sneak by the Blue Jays 1-0 and spoil senior night. The loss drops the Blue Jays to 6-3 overall and 5-3 in the SLIAC.
The lone goal of the contest came in the 63rd minute when Jordan Lande took a cross from Payton Williams and scored past the Jays keeper for the 1-0 lead.
The Gorloks stingy defense really contained the Blue Jay attack throughout the night. The Webster defenders limited the Jays to only four shots in the game and only two of those were on target. The Gorloks managed 18 shots directing 9 of them on goal.
Megan Davidson faced the 9 Gorlok shots on goal and saved 8 of them. Lauren Halamicek led the Jays with two shots and one shot on goal.
The Blue Jays would honor three senior's dedication to the program at halftime; Alaina Allsbury, Natalie Schulte and Liz Hammond.
The Blue Jays will return to action on Saturday afternoon as they will take on the Spalding University Golden Eagles in their last regular season game. It is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. Central Time match up. A win will still allow the Jays to finish in second place, important for the seeding of the conference tournament.
