Defense and Schulte's Two Goals Propel Blue Jays to 2-0 Victory

Louisville, Ky., April 17, 2021 – The Westminster College women's soccer team rebounded from a tough loss in their last game, to take a big road win 2-0 over the Spalding University Golden Eagles in the last regular season game of the year.  The win improved the Blue Jays record to 7-3 overall and 6-3 in the SLIAC. They finished the season tied for second place in the conference.  The Jays lost a tie breaker and will be the #3 seed in the SLIAC Conference Tournament.  The #3 seeded Blue Jays will host the #6 seeded Iowa Wesleyan University Tigers on Monday night in Fulton.  The quarterfinal game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. kick off.

The Blue Jays got on the board in the 18th minute when Natale Schulte worked her way through the Golden Eagle defense and buried a shot past the Spalding keeper to take a 1-0 lead.  The Jays would strike again in the 60th minute when Rachel Nolte would find Schulte and she would again find the back of the net for her and the teams second goal.  The goals were the 8th and 9th goals of the season for Schulte and the 4th assist of the season for Nolte.

Megan Davidson and the Blue Jay defense would record a clean sheet and hold the home team to only two shots on goal the whole game which Davidson saved on the way to her 5th shutout of the season.
