Fulton, Mo., July 30, 2021 – The Westminster College Blue Jay women's soccer team announced its schedule to the world today. After a pandemic delayed and shortened season in 2020, the Blue Jays and newly appointed head coach Courtney Howe, a 2013 Westminster College alumnus, are looking for a return to a normal college season this coming Fall. The 2020 season saw the Jays go 10-3 overall and 6-3 in SLIAC play finishing 3rd. The Blue Jays then went on to win the SLIAC Conference Tournament Championship with a thrilling 2-1 win over previously undefeated Fontbonne University.
The 2021 season kicks off on September 1st when the Blue Jays will travel to St. Louis, MO to take on Harris Stowe State University in a 7:00 p.m. kick off. Conference play will begin on September 15th when the Blue Jays will host the Webster University Gorloks. The game will be a rematch of the SLIAC Tournament Semifinal that the Jays won 2-1 on a last-minute penalty kick goal by Maddy Lawton. It will be the first of 14 conference games that will decide the 2021 SLIAC Regular Season Champion.
The Blue Jays will play 17 games overall this season. Eight of those games will be on the home turf and nine will be on the road. Here are some other key matchups for the Blue Jays in 2021. September 11th the Blue Jays will open up the home portion of their schedule with a 12:00 p.m. showdown with CCIW power Elmhurst College. Wednesday October 27th the Blue Jays will celebrate 2021 Senior Day when the take on the Blackburn College Beavers in a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
